2. Participation in Exco Berlin 2005 ??September 25, 2005

AIPPI Malaysia was represented by Ms Karen Abraham, where the Malaysian Chapter participated in the Gothenburg Working Questions, Q191 (Relationship between trade marks and geographical indications) and Q192 (Acquiescence (tolerance) to infringement of intellectual property rights).

3. Landlord Liability Seminar ??5th October 2005

On the 5th of October 2005, a seminar on ??andlord Liability in Intellectual Property??was organised at the Secretariat c/o Shearn Delamore & Co. Our primary aim was to discuss the extent of the liability of a landlord and its relevance in the intellectual property context. The speakers involved were U.S. attorney, Mr Manjit Gill from Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. and Mr Nad Segaram from Shearn Delamore & Co. The topics discussed were ??andlord liability in the Malaysian context?? and ??andlord liability for a Tenant?? Trade Mark or Copyright Infringement: Evolution of the Law and Practice Tips?? There was also a ??uestion and Answer??session followed by tea.

2. Patent Litigation Seminar ??15th March 2006

On 15th March 2006, the AIPPI Malaysian Group held a seminar entitled ??n Update on the Trends in Patent Litigation??at the Secretariat c/o Shearn Delamore & Co. The speakers involved were Mr Manjit Gill from U.S. firm Becker & Poliakoff, Mr Wong Sai Fong from Shearn Delamore and Mr Gerald Samuel from Miranda & Samuel. At the beginning, Mr Wong Sai Fong illuminated the attendees with his topic ??n Update on Patent Trends in Malaysia?? Following this, Mr Gerald Samuel spoke on the topic ??atent Litigation in Malaysia?? There was an intermission of half an hour, wherein refreshments were served. Thereafter, Mr Manjit Gill presented his paper entitled ??atent Litigation Update: US Supreme Court?? Consideration of the Extraterritorial Scope of US Patent Law in Research?? The seminar ended with a ??uestion and Answer??session.
